They say all it takes is one decision to change your whole life. Before I was chosen to be part of the PeerForward team, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in college. I was thinking of around four different career options. After that one week of training, I had a better understanding of how the system works. I got to know more about financial aid, the application process, grants, scholarships and more.
Once I got back to my high school from the training, I knew exactly what I had to do. I started to investigate each career in more detail and asked people in those careers more about their lifestyle. After talking with so many people and seeing what I could become if I choose a certain career path, I narrowed them down to two options: majoring in Accounting or Computer Science in college. I was still stuck on which one to take, since I loved both equally. I talked with my family, and we concluded with Computer Science because I already knew a lot about accounting.
So, I am now a sophomore at Penn State and doing a major in Computer Science. I also chose to pursue a minor in Finance, through which I will learn more about financial literacy and money management. I also have my own Home Care agency that I started during the lockdown and am going into Real Estate development as well as other businesses. I can say that in the past two to three years I have changed my life goals and made a wise choice. I can visualize myself the way I wanted to be.
