PeerForward Alumni like Cameshia Price continue to inspire and support their peers long after their Workshop. This week, our Alumni Spotlight is on Cameshia, a senior at Paul Quinn College majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting. We caught up with her to ask about her college experience thus far and discuss why she chooses to serve as a PeerForward Alumni:
Why do YOU serve?
I served as a PeerForward Alumni because I want to help the next generation find their own personal success through education.
What has been the best part of college so far?
The best part about attending my college is that it is located in my hometown so I get to earn my college degree and serve the community that poured into me simultaneously.
How did PeerForward change your perspective of college?
PeerForward helped me realize that college was possible. As a high school student, PeerForward provided me with the tools to help myself and my peers to prepare for higher education.
How have you been a positive influence on your peers in college?
I currently serve as SGA Vice President and I am a member of the Luxurious Lambda Nu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Through these organizations, I help make our campus an inclusive, fun place for all while also being a role model for my peers as a student leader.
What’s one piece of college advice you’d offer Peer Leaders?
Allow yourself the grace to start over if your opinions change. As you transition into adulthood, your interests and goals will change. Do not feel overly committed to an idea that no longer serves you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and make mistakes. Nobody knows what you need besides you and mistakes teach you what not to do again.
