Meet this week’s Forward Thinker Spotlight: Kayla Easton! Kayla is the secretary of her PeerForward team at Teachers Preparatory High School in Brooklyn, New York. We caught up with her to ask about her Peer Leader journey what inspires her to be a positive influence on others:

Why did you choose to be a positive influence on others?

I chose to be a positive influence on others so I can create a supportive and uplifting environment, that way I can leave a great impact on those around me.

What’s one change you want to inspire in your school or community?

In my school community, I would love to highlight mental wellness throughout the school. That way mental health barriers can be broken between students and teachers.

What song, or song lyric, is your study jam?

In your own words what is a Peer Leader? At school, what moments have made you feel like a Peer Leader, if any?

A Peer Leader is a student that guides, supports, and influences other students in a positive way. The moment my fellow peers were coming to me asking for help about FASFA IDS & College lists made me feel like a Peer Leader.
