This April, we co-hosted the first-of-its-kind Youth Activation Summit in partnership with Facebook Education, gathering more than 200 youth, educators, and nonprofit leaders from across the country who are inspired to create meaningful change in their communities. From that Summit, both youth and adults who convened there have gone back to their communities inspired by the immense potential they witnessed of youth activation’s ability to transform.
Recently, the Hartford Foundation shined a spotlight on the Youth Activation Summit, with the firsthand experience of its own Public Giving Education Investment Officer, Jacqueline Coleman, and Jakobi Samuelsi, an 11th grade student from Hartford, Conn. who attended. Both share their thoughts on the transformative days spent exchanging ideas and empowering one another to be actors of change. “It was a life-changing experience,” Jakobi says of his time spent at the summit.
