PeerForward, in partnership with the Mirrors Programme of Bermuda, hosted five virtual college funding info sessions for high school students during February and March 2022. These sessions were part of PeerForward’s ongoing efforts to expand awareness of the various postsecondary paths available to Bermudian students, and to demonstrate the feasibility of pursuing funding and scholarship opportunities. Read more about the sessions in this Bernews article.
PeerForward’s Bermuda program, launched in summer 2021, marks the organization’s first international expansion. Our partnership with Mirrors allows us to connect students directly with scholarship providers in Bermuda. In addition to seeking out postsecondary opportunities on the island, many Bermudian students look to apply for university in the USA and Canada. Given that financial aid, scholarship, and loan opportunities can seem especially opaque for non-citizens, PeerForward plays an important role in demystifying the process of paying for college abroad.
Sandra Dill, a spokesperson for the Mirrors/PeerForward partnership, commented on the importance of leveling the playing field for students of all backgrounds: “We’re hosting these ‘Finding the Funds for College’ info sessions because we want to see more students from public high schools going to college and applying for the many loans and scholarships that are available.”
