We are proud to announce that PeerForward has received Los Angeles Business Journal’s Nonprofit of the Year award! It is with great gratitude that we accept this title. As a mid-sized nonprofit, being acknowledged for our efforts is highly appreciated. Thank you, LA Business Journal, for recognizing our organization with this award and thank you to our amazing staff whose hard work made this all possible.
Amanda Hale, our new Managing Director of Development and longtime PeerForward Volunteer, was there to accept the award alongside Antoine Tate, PeerForward Alum and Communications Committee Chair holder for our National Alumni Council. They both shared their thoughts on the experience:
“Given PeerForward’s longstanding impact on 100,000s of high-potential, under-resourced youth, I shouldn’t have been so surprised to hear our name announced as the winner of this award (but I was!). This recognition not only validates our commitment, it shines a spotlight on the importance of what we do to empower and uplift the future leaders of tomorrow. We humbly share this recognition with everyone who makes it possible – from our incredible CEO, leadership team and staff, to our dedicated volunteers who selflessly give their time and talents, and most importantly, to our generous donors who believe in our mission and fuel our work.” -Amanda Hale, Managing Director of Development
“This experience was an eye-opener and a constant reminder of why we do the work that we do and why we come back. As an alum of the program who continues to implement many of the lessons and values I’ve gained, I understand how beneficial it is for students, not just for educational purposes but for personal growth as well. I stand by that.” – Antoine Tate, Communications Committee Chair holder for the PeerForward National Alumni Council who completed his PeerForward Workshop in 2007
Our CEO, Gary Z. Linnen, is elated by this accomplishment. He expressed his sincere thanks to those at Los Angeles Business Journal:
“Thank you so much for this acknowledgement. PeerForward continues to support more than 80,000 students across the country, and you have done so much to help support this effort.”
Thank you again to Los Angeles Business Journal for giving us this award, and to our staff, Peer Leaders, alumni, volunteers, and advisors for their unwavering support of PeerForward. We are honored to hold the title of Nonprofit of the Year. We will continue our efforts to maximize the power of positive peer influence to transform the lives of students in underserved communities!
