Lake Wales High School Peer Leaders with Coach Cornelius Williams excited for their goal-setting meeting
PeerForward teams have hit the ground running as the new school year begins across the country! Coaches and Peer Leaders have already begun convening for goal-setting meetings to start planning their campaign work for the school year. So far, more than 40 goal-setting meetings are in progress, with several already complete and more scheduled for the coming weeks. Big plans are underway for helping all students at our partner schools achieve postsecondary success!
In fact, some PeerForward teams have already begun hosting events to kick-off their college-going campaigns. Peer Leaders at Lake Wales High School in Florida started the semester by hosting a town hall event, where they introduced themselves and their upcoming campaigns to their school’s student body, putting PeerForward on students’ radar early in the year and letting students know where to turn for support on their pursuit to college. At Sun Valley Magnet School in California, Peer Leaders have started one-on-one college counseling with their peers during lunchtime to help them with SAT registration and researching potential colleges to apply to. In West Virginia, Peer Leaders at Skyline High School have started FSA ID sign-ups to ensure their peers are prepared early with an essential step they must complete before being able to file their FAFSA when it opens on October 1st.
Across the country, the spirit of PeerForward is electrifying the halls of our partner schools. We look forward to witnessing the incredible campaign work set forth by our Peer Leaders throughout this 2018-19 school year!
“Today was a great success! We helped 45 seniors get their FSA ID and we’re not stopping there!” says the PeerForward team at Skyline High School
