As a nonprofit organization, PeerForward succeeds with the help of service-driven volunteers such as this week’s volunteer spotlight: Justina Grubor! Justina is the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising at American University, and a longtime PeerForward volunteer. Her dedication to serving students, both in her career and during her free time, is truly a testament to her character. Inspired by her dedication, we reached out to Justina to learn more about her PeerForward volunteer experience:

What drives you to serve first-generation, low-income students?

It is a way to live my commitment to social justice and educational equity.

Please describe the impact of the PeerForward/College Summit volunteering experience.

Life changing. Everyone at the workshop is 100% committed to teamwork and delivering results for the students. It’s a total joy.

In your opinion, why should low-income students pursue postsecondary education?

A college degree will significantly increase their long-term financial security if they choose a school that allows them to graduate with manageable debt.

Volunteering at PeerForward doesn’t just help the organization and those we serve; it brings meaning and purpose to our volunteers’ lives as well. This summer, make an impact in just 4 days by joining us at one of our Summer Workshops as a volunteer!
